The name of my element is Rhodium. Rhodium’s atomic number is 25. Rhodium elemental form is found in North America. It is also found in association with nickel and copper in Canada and South Africa. Rhodium oxide films are prepared by sol–gel method exhibit reversible two-color electrochromic behavior. William Hyde Wollaston, an English chemist, discovered rhodium in 1803 shortly after his discovery of the element palladium. He named it Rhodium from the Greek word "rhodon" meaning, "rose”. He came across rhodium from a sample of platinum ore that was accessed from South America.William Hyde Wollaston who enhanced the techniques of powder metallurgy to become the first to produce and market pure, malleable platinum. He is known from making fundamental discoveries in many areas of science.
For my elements print I decided to create a rose. Rhodium from the Greek word "rhodon" meaning, "rose”. On my print I drew a full rose that covered most of the plate then the extra space was negative space with a squiggly cut form. When you make prints the easy part is drawlig your sketches. The hard part is cutting the plate. I received a cut on my thumb in the beginning because I was cutting towards my finger. Soon after I learned my lesson and my plate showed my effort. The best part about my plate was the cutting skills. You could spot my negative and positive space. My rose came out very good. Next time I would cut my rose deeper so when I print the rose is more noticeable. Other that that I enjoyed this project and would love to do this again!
